Set Goals

How much weight do you want to lose and when do you want to do it by? Be realistic.

Write your goal down and stick it somewhere you will see it everyday (the Fridge is a good option!). Read your goal out aloud in the morning and try to share it with a few friends if you can. This will make it more ‘real’ and give you a bigger reason to stick to it!

Make a Plan

There is a saying “if you don’t plan, you are planning to fail” and this is true when it comes to losing weight.

If you want to achieve your goal in two weeks, create a meal plan for the next 14 days and a shopping list of the foods you need to buy. If you don’t have healthy foods in the house its always temping to binge on the bad stuff, so get rid of processed, fatty foods and replace them with tasty, healthy alternatives.

Talk to your friends and see if they want to lose weight with you – you’ll be surprised at how many people experience weight problems and the research shows if you diet with a friend or two you are more likely to stick to it and you’ll get bigger results!

Cut Out Toxins

Research has shown that fat cells are able to bind themselves to toxins in the body which makes it harder to get rid of them, when you remove the toxins you’ll remove fat cells at the same time.

We are now being exposed to more toxins than ever before and even though the body is usually really good at detoxing itself, many of us have become overloaded with toxins which can drag down health and cause weight gain.

If you’ve tried other diets and failed it might be time to see if toxins are the cause of your weight problems.

You don’t need to do a harsh colon cleanse that uses laxatives to strip the body of everything (including the good stuff), you simply need to do a whole body cleanse which supports the bodies natural detoxification processes to remove toxins and impurities and restore the bodies natural balance.

Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking water helps you to feel full longer and can also help to flush out toxins and impurities.

Drinking a glass of sparking water before a meal is a great way to reduce your appetite. Also we often think we are hungry, when in fact we are thirsty. If you get bored of drinking plain water, try herbal teas such as Peppermint or Green Tea.

Make the Right Food Choices

Being on a diet shouldn’t mean you feel you can only eat boring or bland foods. There are so many delicious foods that are low calorie and healthy.

Avoid anything fried, processed or refined and increase your intake of lean proteins (chicken and fish), vegetables (especially green leafy vegetables) and fruit (watermelon and grapefruits are excellent as they are mostly water).

Once your taste buds adapt you’ll actually realise that fried, fatty foods actually don’t taste that great after all – it was just your body craving them (see below).

Understand Food Cravings V’s Hunger

Many people think they are hungry but actually they are just experiencing cravings.

Your body craves foods because it is lacking in something. When you eat ‘rubbish’ foods you don’t provide your body with the nutrients it needs to maintain optimum health, so it gives out a signal to say it requires mores and will keep doing this until it gets what it needs.

Once you start eating a healthy diet you’ll find the cravings stop because you are giving the body what it needs on a daily basis.

Get Active

You don’t need to go crazy and do extreme exercise routines for hours a day, but you do need to start burning calories. Join a local exercise class, gym or go out for a brisk walk/run.

You want to try and do some form of physical activity each day, even if its just for 20-30 minutes. Aim to get a sweat up and be out of breath – this means you will be in fat burning mode.

Small Regular Meals – Don’t Starve Yourself

Rather than eating three large meals, split your calories in to 5 smaller meals spread throughout the day.

You’ll feel full and won’t feel the need to snack. It will also help to keep your metabolism high and therefore your body will be burning fat all day.

Make sure you eat breakfast to kick-start your metabolism and set yourself up for the day.

Don’t be tempted to starve yourself – you’ll just end up slowing down your metabolism and slowing down the speed at which your burn fat.
